Grandma's House was a finalist (one of 10 organizations across the country) in the first Intergenerational Shared Site Best Practices Awards. Grandma's House received a cash award of $1,000.
All the organizations were recognized on June 5th at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Geriatric Best Practice Initiative
Grandma's
House at Westminster Care of Orlando, recently
won an award from the Sage Institute: Geriatric
Best Practice Initiative. The Geriatric Best
Practice Initiative is funded by the Duke
Endowment in collaboration with the South
Carolina Hospital Association.
The Sage Institute explored,
evaluated and cataloged senior healthcare and
non-healthcare practices across South Carolina
and bordering regions. The Initiative
researchers visited more than 200 sites and
explored more than 100 senior services. The
Grandma's House program was one of 30 best
practices chosen from all the programs
considered!
To be chosen as a best
practice, senior services must:
improve the quality
of life for seniors
have sustainable
quality and benefits
have future benefits
be integrated with
health care and the community
have proven
measurable outcomes
be financially
self-sustaining or provide a cost-loss
reduction
